EMA Spotlight: GANTASMO Joins Cetadelic

At Electronic Music Alliance (EMA), we believe in music as more than entertainment — it’s a force for culture change. Our members know this too: when they join EMA, they commit to play it forward once a year by giving back to a cause that matters to them.

For EMA member Morgan Lavery, CEO of Melt Creative, that moment of activation came with the launch of Cetadelic, a new nonprofit campaign by Green Wave Enterprises calling for cetacean liberation (that’s whales, dolphins, orcas, and belugas). The project invites artists to remix open-source visuals and sounds to raise awareness about ending marine mammal captivity.

Photo by Tidebreakers. Kshamenk was taken from the wild 32 years ago. In the wild orcas travel up to 100 miles a day. This is his small and shallow pen. He is unable to dive down to avoid sun exposure and is only allowed out when performing.

Morgan didn’t just want to support the campaign — he wanted to amplify it through his creative network. That meant bringing in his Melt partner, Josh Valenzuela, who also happens to be one half of the boundary-pushing duo GANTASMO.

Enter GANTASMO

GANTASMO began in 2018 as a neural-network music experiment by Daniel Trujillo, and has since evolved into an immersive AI/XR performance project blending generative music, volumetric visuals, and consciousness research. With Josh Valenzuela on board, GANTASMO has earned recognition as a finalist in the AI Song Contest (2024), featured at Meta/MIT XR showcases (2025), and even turned heads at Cannes. Their work moves fluidly between club culture, academic research, and experimental art — always asking how technology can bend toward human (and planetary) transformation.

Why Cetadelic?

When Cetadelic put out its first call for artists, GANTASMO responded with a powerful contribution: their track “Hell Is a Very Small Place”, now released and available for free use in contexts...Read More

Project Life Kandi: Where Raver Creativity Meets Real-World Resilience

Life Safety Raver Fashion

By: Janine Jordan

Today, after spotting a sale from Paracord Galaxy, I was reminded of an idea I sold Amy Raves on nearly a decade ago. She even made a few samples, and somewhere in the archives, pictures of these exist (to be found and added here later!).

I’ve been thinking about disaster preparedness for a while now—not from a doomsday perspective, but from a community perspective. Because the truth is, some of us could be better prepared. And in a world that’s shifting fast, resilience starts with creativity.

That’s why I’m resurrecting Project Life Kandi.

What is Life Kandi?

Ravers have been crafting kandi cuffs, bracelets, and perlers for decades. The creativity in our scene is unmatched. But why aren’t more kandi-makers using their skills to make gear that could help in real-life survival situations? Maybe they just need the idea?

Life Kandi is a way to turn kandi into tools for resilience—through paracord bracelets, reflective accessories, and other creative life-safety rave fashion. Imagine being at a festival, an underground event, or even in a real-life emergency and knowing that your kandi isn’t just an accessory—it’s a survival tool.

These paracord bracelets aren’t just cool-looking—they can be used in emergencies for first aid, building shelter, or making repairs. They’re already sold online, but imagine if our own community embraced this concept and made them as part of our creative culture.

How Does This Tie to EMA & Resilience Guides?

Project Life Kandi fits into EMA’s broader vision of resilience. We’re currently activating our community to create Permaculture Resilience...Read More

By extending this acronym to include Responsibility (PLURR), we emphasize our commitment to conscious living and environmental stewardship. Our PLURR Tech Series aims to inform and inspire our community to engage with technology in ways that honor these values.

Over the years, EMA has initiated e-waste drives and advocated for the greening of events, recognizing that our technological choices have far-reaching impacts. Embracing Responsibility means acknowledging the environmental and social consequences of our tech consumption. For instance, the extraction of rare minerals for electronics has led to severe displacement in regions like the Congo. By being mindful of our resource use, we show solidarity with affected communities and contribute to global sustainability.

Through the PLURR Tech Series, we will explore topics such as energy-efficient search engines, sustainable event practices, and responsible e-waste disposal. Spearheading the local launch is Phoebe Skye Fosmo, lead vocalist of the indie pop-electro band Los Flying Kites. As an advocate of the rave scene, Phoebe emphasizes the importance of integrating technology to enhance the safety and well-being of festival-goers.

Revolutionizing connection, BUDDY is the world’s first social utility app built for and with Gen Z to get people off their phones and living IRL experiences with ease. The location-based app’s patented technology keeps people connected with their private network of friends, even if cellular and WiFi services are failing. The more users in an area, the stronger and more reliable the BUDDY network will be. Notably, the app operates without the need for Wi-Fi or cellular connectivity, ensuring continuous functionality even in areas with limited reception—a crucial advantage for festival environments. Claire, CEO of Buddy and member of the Electronic Music Alliance (EMA), expressed enthusiasm about the launch:

The Ocaso Festival, renowned for its underground electronic music scene, provides an ideal platform for Buddy’s introduction to the festival circuit.

We are a global scene born of rebels who have always danced on the outskirts of political systems and ideologies, often risking our personal safety to aid in the establishment of a new paradigm based upon higher states of consciousness and, dare we say, Love. It is Love that brings us peace, unity, and respect. These values are the formal foundations Electronic Music Alliance adopted upon our organization. They are the same informally upheld by the scene itself for decades.

The tragedy at the Supernova festival has left a deep wound on our global dance music community. Our hearts have cracked open, and many of us are still shaken, imagining the very real possibility that it could have been any one of us. Many know someone personally who it has affected directly. Regardless of physical presence or direct relation, many of us feel the deep devastation of the attendees, their friends, and their families. We have immense compassion for them as well as the artists we see crying out for international solidarity on either side.

As an organization founded on the values Love brings (peace, unity, and respect), we condemn the violence initiated against Supernova patrons. However, we do not confuse the ideals of religious fanatics, terrorists, governments, or militias with the desires of “the people.”

Therefore, our condemnation of violence is not consent for retaliation of any kind. Abhorrent violence is not what this global community stands for, and so the peaceful Supernova dancers should not be utilized as martyrs for the perpetuation of this war. Honoring them would be to observe what they danced for. And we do know what that is. Organizers claimed Supernova was about connection and peace, “a journey of unity.” If the attendees are martyrs of anything, it should be for what they showed up for and what the organizers billed, which was “a celebration...Read More

REFLECTIONS BY Monica Salazar - CO-FOUNDER OF EMA

So many thoughts have been stirring in my mind, and affecting my overall energy, as I’m sure a lot of you are feeling similar, shaken up, saddened, particularly because of the events that took place at the supernova festival. I’ve wanted to say something publicly, but have paused because of the sensitivity surrounding this situation. It’s complicated and we can all go down a rabbit hole about who’s right, and who’s wrong and what we should support. As one of the founding members of EMA, the essence of the organization has always been to reflect PLUR principles. We grew up in this rave, club, festival environment - our dance music community is party of US and so it hurt tremendously to see what happened on Saturday. Something I shared with Janine is my feeling for these fellow ravers, on an early Saturday morning, dancing to their hearts delight, watching the sunrise, and then the world turns upside down on them, dark and horrible. I keep reflecting on the need to pray. We need to pray for them, for their spirits so that we can help them transition. I’m not a super religious person, but I do believe that the intention and action behind prayer for our fellow dance community members can help us all push through this pain. I think about how I felt after the attack in Las Vegas and the pulse nightclub in Orlando, or the Bataclan in Paris and it brings up similar feelings, and those are not dance music community specific events. Those are country music fans, those are rock fans, and LGBTQ community that I also love.

Hate will grow and spread like wildfire if we allow it to. Let’s remind ourselves to be peaceful.

I became more involved in the dance music community in the mid-2000’s through my work with the EarthDance festival. This work comes into focus for me because the highlight of that festival was and is still...Read More

Press Release from EMA member, Philippa Attwood, and founder of Futuro Nativo in coordination with APIB Oficial

PRESS RELEASE FROM FUTURO NATIVO & APIB OFICIAL

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: September 6th, 2021 - We are sending out an urgent SOS and update regarding the human rights and environmental crisis unfolding in Brazil at this very moment. We are requesting urgent international action, attention and support on the matter concerning the Articulation of The Indigenous Peoples of Brazil (APIB) and the legislation the Brazilian Government is likely to pass. Brazilian legislators need to know their decision this Wednesday, September 8th 2021 will not only endanger Brazil and the Indigenous Peoples, but all of humanity.

On Wednesday, September 8th, the Federal Supreme Court verdict on “Marco Temporal” and bills PL 3729, PL 2633 & PL490 are expected to be announced. If any of the bills pass, it will be nearly impossible to salvage whatever remains of the rainforest, let alone to hold on to what is left of the environmental rights and human rights that protect the Indigenous Peoples and the Amazon. A drastic increase in international awareness is vital if we want to put a stop to this irreversible domino-effect and ‘cascading system collapse,’. Consequently, we reserve the right to comment on behalf of future generations to demand that the Brazilian Congress defeat these bills categorically. This issue is NOT only an internal Brazilian concern, but an issue that affects the entire future of human and animal life on Earth.

On behalf of the Local leaders from the Brazilian Congress and the Indigenous People of Brazil, please heed this call for HELP.
