Project Life Kandi: Where Raver Creativity Meets Real-World Resilience

Life Safety Raver Fashion

By: Janine Jordan

Today, after spotting a sale from Paracord Galaxy, I was reminded of an idea I sold Amy Raves on nearly a decade ago. She even made a few samples, and somewhere in the archives, pictures of these exist (to be found and added here later!).

I’ve been thinking about disaster preparedness for a while now—not from a doomsday perspective, but from a community perspective. Because the truth is, some of us could be better prepared. And in a world that’s shifting fast, resilience starts with creativity.

That’s why I’m resurrecting Project Life Kandi.

What is Life Kandi?

Ravers have been crafting kandi cuffs, bracelets, and perlers for decades. The creativity in our scene is unmatched. But why aren’t more kandi-makers using their skills to make gear that could help in real-life survival situations? Maybe they just need the idea?

Life Kandi is a way to turn kandi into tools for resilience—through paracord bracelets, reflective accessories, and other creative life-safety rave fashion. Imagine being at a festival, an underground event, or even in a real-life emergency and knowing that your kandi isn’t just an accessory—it’s a survival tool.

These paracord bracelets aren’t just cool-looking—they can be used in emergencies for first aid, building shelter, or making repairs. They’re already sold online, but imagine if our own community embraced this concept and made them as part of our creative culture.

How Does This Tie to EMA & Resilience Guides?

Project Life Kandi fits into EMA’s broader vision of resilience. We’re currently activating our community to create Permaculture Resilience Guides—resources that will help ravers and their wider communities prepare for disasters, mutual aid, and sustainability.

But resilience isn’t just about knowledge—it’s also about having the right tools and culture of preparedness. That’s where Life Kandi comes in.

Want to Get Involved?

We’re looking for:
🔹 Creatives & Makers who want to experiment with making paracord kandi and reflective life-safety accessories.
🔹 Volunteers to help build out the Resilience Guides (so this knowledge gets passed down and lives on EMA’s website).
🔹 People who love this idea and want to brainstorm how it can evolve into something even bigger.

💡 Drop a comment, message me, or tag someone who should be part of this movement. Let’s make resilience as fun, creative, and high-vibe as the music we dance to. 💛

As you can actually go online to a place like Etsy and buy Kandi bracelets, perlers, and cuffs, so, too, you can buy ready-made paracord bracelets on sites such as Ebay (like the image below). I chose this one because of the happy color-scheme.
